Chapter 3: YouTube Nation Launches

^^ I finally stopped nervously sweating while filming which was a major victory for not only me, but all the cameramen involved as well. ^^

Big day people! BIG, BIG DAY! After months of working on a “secret project” with “secret people” in a “secret location” — okay, you all knew I was in Playa Vista, but still — I am beyond excited to announce the launch of YouTube Nation, the best show on the internet since 1957! Yes, you can quote me on that.

YouTube Nation is a daily show created by Dreamworks Animation and YouTube that highlights the latest and greatest content on YouTube. Consider us your ferryman across the river YouTube, here to provide the safest journey through the millions of hours of content uploaded to the platform every hour.

So how did I end up here?

In September, I suddenly found myself jobless and going on interviews for positions that would simply help me pay the rent. Right after an interview with a small business publication, I received an email from Buzzfeed editor Scott Lamb cryptically stating he was working on a project he thought I’d be a good match for. After the initial shock of THE Scott Lamb having my email wore off, I went through two interviews before finding myself in the position of video curator — specializing in YouTube creators — for YouTube Nation. Pretty much, I watch tons of YouTube videos everyday and passionately pitch them to be used in the final show that you all see. Trust me, it’s one of the best gigs ever — and not just because they give us mini bunt cakes on our birthdays.

But the most amazing part of the job is the passionate, talented people who make up the YouTube Nation family. YouTube Nation was assembled much like the Avengers with each member being handpicked for a specific reason (My boss told me the other day I was hired because he liked my glasses. Hey I’ll take what I can get). Everyday, I find myself more inspired than the last as I get to work alongside some of the biggest names in digital media. I mean I get to work with Zadi Diaz andΒ Steve Woolf everyday! Can it get much better? Well , maybe if they adopted me but I’m still working on how to bring that up.

I am beyond proud to present the first episode of YouTube Nation and hope you take just as much enjoyment from the show as I have taken working on it.
